This month I would like to share with you a very special milestone we’re celebrating here at DYMO Endicia. As of February 3rd, Vee Mackean, a long-time employee, will become our first ever retiree. I’m proud that we’ve both been in business long enough to have an employee retire, and that we’re the kind of company that employees choose to stay with long term.
We’ve tried over the years to make DYMO Endicia more of a community, rather than just a company. Yes, while it’s important to grow our profits every year, we believe that the best way to grow as a company is to treat everyone that we work with (customers, partners and employees) like valued friends. Sure, it’s easy to just say this, but the proof that we live by that belief is in every employee that comes back to us. It’s in every customer who takes it upon themselves to evangelize our services to their friends, and it’s in a long term employee who has drawn out her decision to retire for five years because she knows how much she’s going to miss us.
Over the last 16 years, Vee has worked as our receptionist, secretary, event planner, administrator and all-around company mom. During this time, we’ve all come to appreciate her warm and steady presence. Whether it’s a pat on the back or a boot to the rear, Vee has always known the best way to keep us in line and at our best. Here’s how Sarah Stephens, our Senior Manager of Human Resources, remembers her first meeting with Vee:
I remember walking into the lobby six years ago for my interview. Vee greeted me with a warm smile and kindly asked if I needed anything while I waited. We started talking and I immediately felt at home. After I finished my interview, we continued our conversation for a few more minutes. I enjoyed hearing her talk about the people, the company and how DYMO Endicia is a great place to work. I knew this is where I wanted to be. Six years later, new employees joining the company tell me they get the same warm welcome from Vee.
Even though Vee will be officially retiring, we are excited that she has agreed to take on a new role for us. As we’ve grown, it has become obvious we need someone to help the DYMO Endicia team, both past and present, to stay in touch. We are thrilled that Vee will now be our new DYMO Endicia Alumni Program Coordinator. We couldn’t think of a better person for the job.
Vee, we would like to thank you for everything you’ve done for us over the years. We wish you all the best and great happiness in your retirement.
